My story

1992

Fanny Smith WAS BORN and brought up in Villars, a small village in the Swiss Mountains. From the moment she could walk, she was already stepping into her brother’s ski boots, eager to be on the snow. By the age of two, she was skiing - and a lifelong passion was born.

2004

BY THE AGE OF 12 she entered her first Skicross race and immediately knew it was her calling. It provided her the perfect combination of the competitive side of alpine racing and the adrenaline rush of freestyle skiing.

2008

At sixteen she TURNED PROFESSIONAL. With the support of her parents and generous patrons, she formed a private team and after 10 years she transitioned into Swiss-Ski Federation.

2010

At just 17 years old, Fanny took part in her FIRST OLYMPIC GAMES in Vancouver, marking a historic milestone as Skicross made its Olympics debut. She was the youngest athlete in the Swiss delegation. Later the same year, she celebrated her FIRST WORLD CUP VICTORY in Innichen.

2011

The following season, just as her career was gaining momentum, Fanny suffered a major knee INJURY. Doctors told her she would never ski again - but she refused to accept that. After 11 months of intense rehabilitation, she made her comeback, more determined than ever.

2012 - 2013

HER COMEBACK season was nothing short of spectacular. She won the first three World Cup races of the year, stood on six podiums out of ten, claimed her FIRST CRYSTAL GLOBE, and was crowned WORLD CHAMPION in Voss, Norway.

2018

At the winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Fanny achieved a lifelong dream by winning the OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDAL - a reward for years of hard work, setbacks and resilience.

2019 - 2021

After the Olympics, Fanny reached a new level of consistency. She won a SECOND CRYSTAL GLOBES in 2019 and a THIRD in 2021, confirming her new position of the sport’s top athletes.

2022

A month before her fourth Olympics in Beijing, Fanny fractured her tibial plateau. It became a race against the time - but through intense recovery and determination, she made it to the start gate and earned ANOTHER OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDAL. It was a defining moment of perseverance.

2023

Fanny entered a PERIOD OF TRANSITION - marked by deep self-reflection, adaptation and a change of equipment. It was a challenging chapter, but one that became a defining phase of growth - both on and off the slopes.

2024 - 2025

Fanny returned to her trusted partner, Stöckli. That decision reignited her momentum. She captrued her FOURTH CRYSTAL GLOBE and achieved a major career highlight by becoming DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION in St. Moritz, winning both the individual and the team event. It was a powerful culmination of resilience, experience and renewed confidence.
